Behind Me
A remarkable new sculpture has been installed near the stream below Colletta - "Behind Me" by Jonty Horwitz.
A large effort was needed to transport the large glass panes, each weighing 80 kg, down to the site and then mounting them. This task was supervised by the glass expert Michael Baron and by Jonty himself. The bulk of the heavy moving was done by Giulio and Gian Pietro from Castelbianco, who also dug the foundations and laid the reinforced concrete base.
The sculpture consists of 12 glass sheets fused together at the base, with an amber outline which together make a 3-D figure. The figure is of Jonty's father who was present at the inauguration. His extended family, many Collettiani and various guests also came to Colletta for the inaugaration. The overwhelming reaction to this new addition to Colletta has been very positive. It creates an amazing visual impact in the glade, especially in sunshine, and blends in well with the beautiful surroundings.
